Re: Now Carroll is about to be a regular starter what odds would you give on him being injured by Xmas?
He had a good game today, and showed he wanted it.

This was exemplified when he got on the end of a long ball out of defence, managing to get sufficient control with his HEAD to bring it down for himself, then knocked the ball down the touchline for himself to chase. He was never going to outrun the covering defender but he pressured him, and then was able to nick the ball and knock it back for a supporting team mate.

Only to find that NO CUNT had bothered to follow him in support.

tbf it's the first game in a long time where he looked to have plenty of energy left in the latter stages of the game.

Give AC his due...he put in a shift today...almost had a good assist for Zarate...and a few good passes and link play moving forward...
Didnt pose much of an attacking threat...and was mostly beaten in the air...

Lasted OK for 90 mins...if he can chip in for a few goals and assists could be worth a place...but I'd like to see how Antonio does in a striking role...

Re: Now Carroll is about to be a regular starter what odds would you give on him being injured by Xmas?
As you lot know...I was always against Carroll transfer...never rated him in terms of ability or injury record...

IHe's had some bad imjuries with us...and everyone has been very patient at the club and supporters...

However...how long will it be...if ever that he is fully fit...and match fit getting a run of games where he delivers up to his transfer value & wages...

Unfortunately...just as he seems to be getting into any sort of form...he gets injured again...

Will he ever get fit enough to deliver anything on the pitch on a regular basis...I really doubt it...\\

Not only does he have serious fitness and performance issues...but he doesn't fit The Bilic Way.....

We all know where he'd end up if he was a racehorse...Sadly...

Hope I'm proven wrong...

Re: Now Carroll is about to be a regular starter what odds would you give on him being injured by Xmas?
Unless the Mirror have misquoted him or it is poor grasp of English terminology, Bilic inadvertently gave away his intentions with respect to Carroll when trying to big him up by saying - "He has the stage, he has the shop window ... ". 'Shop window' is not a term you hear with respect to the possibility of becoming part of the England squad.

You have to admit though that we've had some real poor injury luck with strikers recently.

Missed competitive games

Carroll
2015/16 - 10
2014/15 - 27
2013/14 - 26
2012/13 - 15

Valencia
2015/16 - 16
2014/15 - 5

Sakho
2015/16 - 13 (inc 3 month recovery estimate)
2014/15 - 16

We can never seem to keep any combination of these 3 fit for a prolonged period.

Re: Now Carroll is about to be a regular starter what odds would you give on him being injured by Xmas?
Carroll is nowhere near the same player since the first serious injury he had. He just doesn't have the same presence anymore, the bullish attributes that used to scare the shit out of centrebacks. He was never going to beat anyone with his pace but the player that was constantly beaten in the air by McAuley and Olsson is not the same player we purchased.

It's up to Bilic and his staff to see if this is more mental than physical and then we'll know what sort of player we still own.

Re: Now Carroll is about to be a regular starter what odds would you give on him being injured by Xmas?
I'd much rather shift Carroll to free up enough wages to get someone half decent in. Not likely to happen though unless he goes to one of these Chinese or Qatar leagues. It's almost certain we would end up having to pay some of his wages or defer part of the transfer fee based on appearances otherwise.

I've been saying it for 3 years now that the bloke is a dud. The fitness excuse keeps getting rolled out and he'll have one decent game in 10 and the Carroll fans will be all over it.
He's at best a battering ram sub for me and a very expensive one.
I agree we shouldn't have bothered with Jelavic as I think he is finished and not the player he was and Bilic thought he was.

I hope Carroll has a good game today and we batter Man Utd, it's more than overdue.

Re: Now Carroll is about to be a regular starter what odds would you give on him being injured by Xmas?
........would much rather we sold Jelavic IF we are going to sell a striker which we won't.

Carroll is a very good player when FIT.

Great idea lets flog off a striker leaving us even shorter up front.

We wouldn't be "lucky to get a loan deal"... he will simply get injured and bounce right back to us. We need to SELL him so his future downtime becomes another club's problem. Not simple, I grant you, but not impossible either if there's the will to make it happen.

Croe: Yep. That's me... an 'armchair supporter' with a total of 30 years of season tickets to his name; all well documented on here and elsewhere over many years. But don't let that stop you just gobbing off aimlessly again, eh? We disagree is all. I want him sold, you want him to stay (mostly injured / on the bench, for £80K a week..?). Every time somebody disagrees with you (on here, and in life, most likely), you piss your pants! We disagree, simple as. You're just gonna have to suck it up, fella.

Leave that wine alone!! If you've started to think Croe makes sense... you're pissed. :-)

Bilic is bigging Carrolll up AGAIN in the media. Not sure if he is just being kind to try to boost the lads confidence, or he is really seeing something that the rest of us don't, if so, I'd love to know what it is, as in the last 3 games he has looked like a league 2 striker.
